Judy Garland as the blonde Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz
Here is all of the known film footage of Judy Garland as the blonde Dorothy in one short video. First up is some short footage of Judy on MGM’s backlot on her way to look at something. What that is, is unknown. We then have a quick three shots in color, repeated at a slower speed so you can see them better. Finally, there is the narrated footage from the 1938 MGM short "Another Romance of Celluloid: Electricity" which showed the amount of electricity it took to light MGM’s film sets. Included in the short is this quick look at Judy being readied for a take on the original Cornfield set.

February 23, 1939: The first of the last two days of shooting on "The Wizard of Oz" (save for some retakes done in March and a few pick-up shots in June). Filmed on these two days, or possibly just this day, was Judy Garland's iconic “Over the Rainbow." To give you an idea of how long the production of the film took, Judy pre-recorded the song four months earlier on October 7, 1938, and that wa...

Judy mugs her famous "bloopface" for the camera. Judy is seen potty training Liza as well as giving her a whiff of her perfume. The song is "That's All" as performed by Judy on her TV series, Episode Ten, taped on October 11, 1963, and aired o...

"Ten Pins In The Sky" - Judy Garland - Complete Version

On July 28, 1938, Judy Garland pre-recorded “Ten Pins In The Sky” for the film "Listen, Darling." Part of Judy’s vocal and the entire instrumental middle section was deleted from the final edit of the film. It’s likely that the instrumental section was to underscore some dialog to be spoken in character by Judy to Scotty Beckett to help his character not be afraid of the thunder. Here is the co...

I swear, Disney must’ve took inspiration from Judy here. Because Cinderella looked so much like Judy did here.
They are the greatest. Happy Days Are Here Again. I love them.
Judy is extremely beautiful here and the two have such a genuine love of singing Bravo
Why did she not get a standing ovation??
Watching this live must've felt like a religious experience. What a beautiful, beautiful performance by Judy. I know she had a very special relationship with President Kennedy, and took his death extremely hard. He would call her from time to time from the White House, making a special request for her to sing, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" over the phone to him.
Few people can do this now. WOW.
Dressed like a clown, but a majestic performance.
Judy was not recognized enough in her lifetime! She was a remarkable human with a voice of an angel!🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
I worship this talent
When folks had Organic Talent
Saw her In 1952 at Palace theater with The Szonys and Alan King. Superb!
Love this song 😊 as a child i loved Judy & still do what a beautiful natural human being with pure natural talent & a voice to blow u away every time u listen & whatever song Judy sang 😊 RIP Judy
Judy Garland effortless. Singer, dancer, actress.
meanwhile the Germans were holding their own version of synchronized choreography
I think she's really wonderful here. Her voice is great and her charm is unique and powerful. There's no one like her, even after all these years.
Awesome feel. 2024 still remember
Of course, hearing her, it is clear where her daughter got that voice from.
❤😢tears come into my eyes she's so amazingly gorgeous and beautiful as a actress who has been through so much pain 😢❤ love her so very dearly too .
Dam, Judy G was gorgeous.
Streisand talked about this in her autobiography. ❤
Beautiful
This recording of Over the Rainbow seems to be a note or two higher than any other version I have heard. Anyone else notice this?
Barbara is always uncomfortable. lol. But it doesn’t matter: Judy and Ethel are veterans of the hardscrabble entertainment world-Ethel on Broadway and Garland in Hollywood-and you can see they get on like a house on fire. Streisand is more the delicate, rare orchid-her voice an absolute dream but you wish she could get more comfortable in her skin and have more fun.
Excellent tap moves like no other
Chills
Babs was hot like lava!
It's like she is painting with her voice
Judy Garland I will love you forever!
so wish i could have seen Judy in concert love her so
Just beautiful! We open our Tony Bennett Tribute show tomorrow in NYC at The GreenRoom 42 to commemorate the first anniversary of his passing and his wonderful, impactful life.
Should do the bit with Red 😄😄😄
The band...unadulterated, pure swing...forgotten know but spectacular then.
George Robert Newhart (September 5, 1929 - July 18, 2024). He and Judy were quite funny in this clever satire about themselves.
I've watched this film since I was old enough to remember back in the 50's and I'm sure I've seen it more than 100 times. That said, while I'm more than a little familiar with the original version (if I sang I could do it from memory) I enjoyed this original version every bit as much even without the live action video to accompany the audio that we are listening to now. When you get to a certain age perhaps picking apart other people's art just isn't satisfying anymore because it's simply okay to just enjoy it. Now I have 2 versions of this beautiful song in my head and I'm grateful for the addition. One person's trash can certainly be another's treasure. Life is short folks, don't waste time not enjoying every moment of the all too brief ride.
It never ever gets old and it never will! Judy defines in this performance the term "leaving it all out there" for Judy,as she almost bashfully, demurely approaches the audience quietly, she knows what she's about to deliver to these people. At this point in her life, the thieves had taken it all from her,the money the security, the future, professional dignity. under 5' tall, baby Gumm "the little girl with the big girls voice" still has that magical ability to touch ever single soul within hearing distance of her voice. Her live performances were still electrifying and she was still evolving, still growing as an artist and entertainer! Look at her upper torso watch how her ribcage expands before the finish, she pulls everything she's got inside and and gives it all completely holding nothing back for herself....
This woman was totally vulnerable alone on the stage in the dark and in a black dress and she took her audience for a ride that no one could forget! Raw emotion and exposed and brilliant!
That was out of this world.
Ohhhh Tony!!!! U sang toghether with Judy, fortunate boy
Rest in peace, good Judy. 😢💔
Judy's in great voice but this is surprising dull medley and arrangement. No momentum, no electricity.
Mi niña
Such a beautiful voice!❤
Love this stunningly perfect Art Deco in motion
Wow, seeing the sets move, a piano appear, dancers appear, enormous curtain silently swooshing along and movint into a circle like a tornado, and she keeps going and going and ends with all those spins. That's really spectacular. Was it as powerful and amazing on the film, when it could simply be she isn't going very far at all, but curtains are moving behind her? Because showing the the entire soundstage like that was spectacular. They really made big movies back then.
Within 2 years Mayer was fired and Dore Schary took over, then MGM declined rapidly.
Anyone know the date (day/month) of this luncheon?
Wish there was a studio recording of Bae Arthur's version aside from the performance she did in The Golden Girls ❤❤❤
Listen to Judy laughing off-camera at 4:41.
I love singers that have wonderful voices, but even as they grow older, their voices deteriorate. There are two singers that as they aged, their voices became even better Elvis Presley and Judy Garland.
This is just jaw dropping. So perfect in every way
